HOW TO FIND AN INTERNATIONAL JOB ABROAD
The choice to move to live abroad is never easy and you often need an initial push to start the adventure, a trigger such as a disappointment, the loss or lack of a job, the lack of stimuli at work, the bad mood when waking up before going to the office, the continuous poorly paid internships.
Leaving your family, relatives, friends, the country where you were born and raised is not an easy decision, but if you get the urge, you have to move on to the planning stage.
Here is some simple advice that may seem trivial, but which you should keep in mind when looking for a job abroad
Language knowledge
First of all, a good knowledge of a foreign language is necessary. If you don’t have that, it is difficult to leave and it is therefore better to organise a period to dedicate yourself to studying a language. You can start from Internet sites, but don’t focus so much on grammar as on your ability to express yourself, to speak, to hold a conversation. Obviously, you can choose the foreign country where you move to work and live according to the language skills you have.
A good CV
Whether you present yourself with a degree or professional competence, writing a good CV is the first calling card.
You can use the European CV template, although it is certainly not eye-catching, so we recommend that you vary it as much as you like. A good CV presented on Linkedin for qualified jobs is another good place to start.
It should begin with your personal details, your education (without starting from primary schools), your work experience, the roles you have held, your language skills and other relevant knowledge (computer skills, etc.).
It should be schematic, maximum two pages, well formatted and without spelling or grammatical errors. Obviously it will be written in a foreign language and this may be more difficult for you. Learn to use the correctors available (AI included), but do not rely solely on those. Possibly have your CV proofread and corrected by someone who has a good command of the foreign language you are using.
Being on the spot
To look for unskilled jobs in the catering industry such as waiters, kitchen helpers, pizza makers, or for shop assistants or construction jobs such as bricklayers, tilers, painters, etc., it is necessary to be on the spot, and often a search through the streets of cities looking for signs in restaurants, bars, shop windows or asking at open building sites can be more fruitful than anything else. There are also local newspapers or websites where job applications are advertised.

Preparing before the interview

Linguistic knowledge:
good knowledge of English is needed, at higher levels for qualified jobs. If you do not know English Malta can be a good starting point to learn it. In Malta English is the official language, it is easy to attend international communities and there are many qualified schools where to attend English courses at much cheaper costs than in England.
Find yourself on the spot
For jobs in the tourism and hotel sector or in the shops it is advisable to be on the spot and to visit the main towns such as Sliema, Valletta, Bugibba among the hotels, restaurants, shops before the start of the tourist season, which goes from March to October, or visit job search sites in local newspapers and the internet. The hourly wages offered are not high (between 5-10 euro base) even if in Malta the cost of living is on average lower than in Italy, particularly in northern Italy, but you can also use the work experience for improving English.
Good curriculum in English
For more qualified jobs you need a good curriculum in English and pay attention to the grammar and spelling to not immediately give a bad impression.
